# Near (NEAR)

NEAR Protocol uses sharded Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus. It supports smart contracts built with JavaScript and Rust and account abstraction features such as email and Telegram logins. Finality takes about 1.3 seconds, and fees are below 1 cent.

MAVAN provides non-custodial staking on NEAR Protocol for institutional teams and platforms. You keep control of your NEAR, and MAVAN runs the validators on its infrastructure.
