# Fast Track Withdrawals & Migrations

Estimate validator withdrawal times with the API and choose which validators to exit to return ETH sooner while maximizing the time spent earning rewards.

## Overview

Ethereum assigns each new validator an index based on the order it joined the network. For example, index 2,000,000 identifies the 2,000,000th validator to join.

To return your ETH, an exiting validator must wait for its turn in a continuous cycle called the 'validator clock'. As of March 2025, a full rotation took approximately 9 days. A validator whose index had just passed could therefore wait up to 9 days for its ETH to be returned.

Selecting the validator with the next available turn can return your ETH sooner. MAVAN has saved clients 2-3 days on average, with some cases saving up to 9 additional days. Coordinating validator transitions helps you re-stake ETH promptly with MAVAN and minimize missed rewards.

Validators must complete the exit queue and safeguard delay before the validator clock processes them.

## Using Fast Track

1. Supply your validator index numbers to the API to estimate withdrawal times and exit deadlines.

2. Use the estimates to choose which validators to exit. Usually, validators with the nearest deadline will return their staked funds soonest.

   * If an exit submission deadline is within 10 minutes, act promptly to avoid a longer wait for your funds.

   * If the queue grows before you submit your exits, or you submit many withdrawals at once, the longer exit queue may cause you to miss the optimal withdrawal window. MAVAN recommends allowing at least a few hours of leeway before submitting your withdrawal message.

   * Withdrawing 1,000 validators adds approximately 6 hours and 40 minutes to the exit queue. This scales linearly: 500 validators add 3 hours and 20 minutes.

## Validator exit process

Ethereum validators must initiate a voluntary exit before withdrawing their staked ETH:

1. Exit initiation: the validator generates and broadcasts an exit message to the beacon chain to signal that it will stop validating blocks.

2. Exit delay: the validator enters an exit queue. The wait depends on network conditions and the number of validators exiting at the same time.

3. Withdrawal delay: after the exit queue, the validator waits for the validator sweep. The network processes the exit and returns the staked ETH to the validator's withdrawal address.
